Lesson 1: The Atom

Lesson 1 begins with the atom where you will study Negative Ions, Positive Ions, N materials, P materials and Valence Shell electrons. You will also examine energy bands, the forbidden gap and how they effect the operation of conductors, insulators and semiconductor materials. Also covered is Ionic bonding, Atomic bonding and Covalent bonding. You will also examine majority and minority charged carriers and more.

Lesson 2: Diodes

Lesson 2 begins with the Diode. You will examine the depletion region, what happens in a Reversed Biased Position, Forward Biased Position and how temperature effects the conduction of the Semiconductor device. You will also examine Thermal Runaway and Reverse Break Down Voltages. Lesson 2 will also explain various diode fabrication techniques. Also covered are Zener Diodes, Tunnel Diodes, LED Diodes, Varactor Diodes, Photodiodes and more.

Lesson 3: Bipolar Junction Transistors

In Lesson 3 you will examine the Bipolar Junction Transistor. You will study both the NPN and PNP devices. You will see how the base section controls the current flow through the device. You will also examine the common emitter, common base, common collector and transistor configurations. You will also see how the physical construction effects the performance of the device. You will study both Germanium and Silicon devices. Learn all of this and much more.

Lesson 4: Field Effect Transistors

In Lesson 4 you will examine field effect transistors. You will begin with N-channel and P-Channel JFET devices. Also covered are Insulated Gate Field effect transistors being operated in both depletion and enhancement modes of operation. You will learn Biasing techniques and much more.

Lesson 5: Specialty Devices

Lesson 5 concludes your study of Semiconductor devices. By examining specialty devices such as the insulated gate bipolar transistor, the unijunction transistor, the Shockley Diode, the Silicon-Controlled Rectifier, Gate turn off Thyristor, Light Activated SCR's Silicon controlled switches, Triacs and more.
